Did you know that up to 70% of the plastic in the oceans comes from places with no waste management?

1 in 3 people globally do not have a rubbish collection and have to burn or dump their waste. Poorly managed waste contributes to the spread of disease, adds to the climate crisis and pollutes the oceans.

WasteAid is a small charity that shares waste management and recycling skills in the world’s poorest places.

Their partners make products from waste, fight poverty, prevent climate change emissions and stop plastic pollution.

There are some options to help them with their mission

1. A one off donation. Do this before the end of July and the UK Government will match your donation. [donate]

2. Payroll Giving. The donation is taken from your salary before tax. Some companies (like Pitney Bowes) will even double your donation, ask yours about this. We can give you some guidance on setting this up or Waste Aid have an option to set this up for you. [donate]

NB: I am unaware of a US equivalent to this but you could check out Plastic Bank who are are a social enterprise that incentivises plastic recycling in developing countries.
